Project Overview

UDCS Consulting was engaged by Quanta Power Australia, on behalf of Quanta Solar, to undertake bespoke engineering for the detailed design of overhead 33kV feeders forming part of the Kennedy Energy Park wind farm collection system.

The project commenced with minimal design guidance, with the works specification providing only limited detail for the overhead line scope. This required a proactive and experienced engineering approach to define and deliver a compliant, fit-for-purpose solution.

Scope of Works

UDCS Consulting was responsible for the detailed design of a tee’d, single circuit 33kV overhead line, including:

  • Approximately 11 km of single circuit overhead line
  • Sulfur conductor configuration

The engagement included all bespoke electrical, civil, and structural engineering design components associated with the overhead line infrastructure.

Design Approach

The project required a highly adaptive design methodology due to the limited initial scope definition and evolving client requirements.

UDCS Consulting developed the design framework from first principles, working closely with multiple stakeholders across design and construction teams. The approach focused on delivering a practical and compliant solution while accommodating tight timeframes and ongoing scope refinement.

Project Outcomes

  • Delivered a fit-for-purpose design despite minimal initial specification
  • Maintained project progress within tight timeframes and evolving scope
  • Successfully coordinated with multiple stakeholders across design and construction
  • Achieved project delivery in line with client and principal requirements despite technical and commercial constraints
